WE PROVIDE CLINICAL EXPERTISE AND TREATMENT FOR THESE CONDITIONS:

Abnormal Growths

The majority of skin growths are harmless. Common growths include moles, warts and skin tags, while other growths could be indicators of an underlying hormonal condition. Although many lesions that appear over the course of one's life are benign, it is important to make an appointment with a Dermatologist who can rule out any cancerous lesions before they become malignant.

Acne & acne scarring

Acne is the most common dermatological condition in the United States. About 80% of Americans have experienced acne at some point in their lives. It is more commonly seen in teenagers or young adults, but acne can occur at any stage in life, including infancy and above the age of 40.

What causes acne? Acne appears when pores become clogged, and is generally a combination of sebum and dead skin cells.

Dermatologists know that letting acne runs its course is not always the best way of handling it and this is because without treatment dark spots and permanent scars can appear on the face and body as your body tries to clear the acne. Our providers are knowledgeable in the most effective medications and treatment plans to suit your unique skin type. We also offer services such as chemical peels, microdermabrasion, injections that can over time effectively aid in the appearance of acne and acne scarring.

Age Spots

As people get older, age spots can appear on the face and body as a result of genetics or long-term exposure to the sun. Age spots are not cancerous, but spots caused by the sun could be accompanied by red, scaly, raised lesions called actinic keratoses. Also, spots that are especially dark may look like age spots, but are in fact cancerous lesions, so it is important to get evaluated by a Dermatologist when those arise. If you are interested in minimizing these blemishes, Middlebelt Dermatology Center offers cosmetic treatments & products to aid in the reduction of the appearance of age spots.

Eczema

Eczema is a non-contagious condition that causes the skin to become inflamed, itchy and red. Currently, the exact cause of eczema is still unknown, but researchers know that genetics and environmental triggers play a large role in the onset of eczema. Irritants or allergens elicit an unusual response from the immune system, and as a result skin cells don’t behave as they should which causes an eczema flare-up. With the right treatment these flare-ups can be controlled and the symptoms alleviated.

Excessive Hair

Excessive hair, particularly in women, is attributed to a condition called hirsutism. When this occurs, it is usually due to a hormonal imbalance, the body is producing high levels of androgens, and in particular testosterone. The patterns of hair growth follow the patterns that are typically seen in males. This hormonal imbalance can be the result of a few different disorders or certain medications. Our team of highly trained physicians can help diagnose the cause of excessive hair growth, and we offer services such as laser hair removal to help in the reduction of unwanted hair.

Excessive Sweating

Excessive sweating, also known as hyperhidrosis, can be an uncomfortable condition that causes excessive sweating even in out of the ordinary situations- cold temperatures or without triggers. It can be attributed to other conditions such as diabetes or hyperthyroidism. We can offer specialized treatment plans to help manage the symptoms of excessive sweating.

Hairloss

While it is normal to shed about 100 hairs a day, if you are noticing bald patches or very thin areas that can be an indicator of hair loss. There can be many causes that can be attributed to this, some may include stress, hormonal changes, underlying diseases or medical treatments. The most common reason is hereditary: female or male pattern baldness or Androgenetic alopecia. It is important to see a Dermatologist to help narrow down the cause; at Middlebelt Dermatology Center we have effectively helped our patients halt or treat their hair loss.
